Florida Pond Builder Built 40 Feet of Cascading Waterfalls in Residential Backyard

40ft cascading waterfall

Orlando, Florida Feb 26, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - A Central Florida pond builder recently completed a residential backyard project featuring approximately 40 linear feet of cascading waterfalls, transforming a steep property into a multi-level water feature designed for both visual impact and long-term performance.

The project was completed by Site Pros Landscaping, Inc., a Florida-based pond and water feature contractor known for naturalistic waterfall construction and Aquascape-certified systems.

Unlike many flat Florida builds that require artificial elevation, this property provided an opportunity to work with existing slope. The team shaped the terrain, placed structural boulders intentionally, and designed a cascading waterfall run that flows through multiple levels before reaching the basin below.

According to Alissa Watson of Site Pros Landscaping, overly tall or poorly stacked waterfalls often lead to long-term problems.

It starts to look like a volcano, she said, describing what can happen when rocks are stacked without proper design consideration.

Watson explained that beyond aesthetics, improper stacking can create plumbing access issues and make future repairs significantly more difficult. Many of the repair calls her company receives stem from systems where rock placement blocked access to pumps or plumbing components.

We try to make it look like Mother Nature intended it to look like, Watson said.

The recently completed project was built using an Aquascape system, which incorporates rocks and gravel to support biological filtration. While some in the koi industry favor sterile pond systems, Watson described their approach as working with natural processes.

This same philosophy also applies to the companys custom koi pond projects, where natural filtration and balanced ecosystems are prioritized over sterile, high-maintenance designs.

The more natural, the better, she said. Were really building it for the enjoyment of the client and the beauty of what were building.

The 40-foot cascading run was designed not simply for height, but for movement and sound. Multi-tiered drops allow water to travel in stages, creating variation in flow and visual depth rather than a single vertical drop.

Beyond visual appeal, the company emphasized structured installation practices, including stable rock placement and accessible plumbing, to ensure long-term durability.

As demand for backyard water features continues in Floridas year-round outdoor climate, projects like this highlight how thoughtful design and disciplined construction can turn challenging terrain into functional, natural-looking water features.
